• Firstly, our mothers used to do it, the punk kids today are all over it, and it just makes sense.  Bring a safety pin or two out with you. You don’t have to pin it on your person, these miracle inventions are small enough that you can actually put a few in your purse and you won’t even notice they’re there (until your strap is pulled off of your cute spaghetti dress and you’re left feeling exposed).
• The men of yesteryear would always have one of these handy for you.  Not the case, anymore.  Bring your own hankie (aka tissue).  The guys today just don’t do it, because it’s not pratical for them, unless you’re liplocked with sneezy McAllergies.  Besides, your the one with a purse (we hope he doesn’t have a murse – man-purse).  These little beauties can save you if you’ve worked up a glisten, if you’ve eaten spicy food and your nose is letting loose, and so many other ways you can think of.
• Who’s hose?  Ok, this is actually one that you want to leave at home.  Unless it’s 10 below, hose are out!  They tend to get snagged, bunchy, uncomfortable, and on and on.  Just don’t wear pantyhose, especially colored tights.  Come on.  It was punky and cute 20 years ago!!
• The alternative to hose:  If it’s going to be chilly out and you’re going to a movie or something, wear a shawl.  They are big enough that you can put them over your legs if they’re cold and can compact enough to be used as a cute accessory or stashed in an oversized bag.
